Get ready to immerse yourself in the enchanting vibrant country of Portugal. This diverse country full of history, culture, and stunning landscapes. From the bustling streets of Lisbon to the sandy beaches of the Algarve, there's something to suit every taste and interest. In this trip we will be focusing on Lisbon and the Algarve region. We have thoughtfully crafted an itinerary designed to offer the best of both worlds: structured group experiences and plenty of free time for personal exploration.
The heart of our Girls Group Trip to Portugal is a balance between structured activities and the freedom to venture out on your own. We've carefully planned our itinerary to ensure you have ample time to create your own unique experiences. During your free time you are welcome to join the optional group activities or explore on your own, we will provide plenty of recommendations for you.
We will start the trip off with a welcome dinner at a beautiful Lisbon restaurant to meet your fellow travelers. During the four days in Lisbon we will take a walking city tour, a day trip to Sintra, and spend time in the Belem district. We will end our time in Lisbon with a farewell to Lisbon dinner before making our way to the Algarve. The Algarve will be all about relaxation, beaches, and enjoying the beginning of the Europe summer season. The accommodations will be at a 4 or 5 star hotel with a pool so everyone can relax. We will also be doing a day trip to Lagos and taking a boat ride out onto the water to enjoy the amazing cliffs and landscape. We will end our trip with a farewell dinner and drinks.

After arriving in Dubrovnik you will make your way to the hotel where our trip host will be there to meet you and get you checked in! If you arrive early in the day we will connect you with any other travelers and give you some recommendations on how to spend your first day!
In the evening we will have our official welcome dinner at a local restaurant so you can meet your other travelers.
Day 2 Beach & Wine

On our first full day in Dubrovnik will provide you time to relax after the long flight the previous day. You can sleep in or join the trip host for a visit to a nearby beach in the morning.
In the afternoon we will head out to visit two beautiful wineries in the area surrounding Dubrovnik. We will learn about these family owned vineyards, sample their wines as well as sweet liquors. We will end our day with dinner at one of the local wineries.

Day 3 Explore Dubrovnik

We will start day 3 off with an optional morning walk along the walls surrounding Dubrovnik, stopping for coffee and a snack with amazing views. Afterwards we will take a walking tour of Old Town as a group with a local guide, learning about the history of the city but also some Game of Thrones filming sites.
The afternoon is free to stop into some of their amazing museums and other sites before we head to our last dinner in Croatia.

We will be departing in the early afternoon our final morning in Dubrovnik so you will have plenty of time to explore, shop, join a kayak tour or head to the beach.
We will head to Montenegro in private transportation and arrive at our hotel in the early evening. The evening is yours to join the group at an optional dinner, relax at the hotel or venture out on your own.

After a busy few days we will have a free day to do what you choose! Our hotel has an amazing beachfront and amenities, so we recommend spending the morning and early afternoon relaxing and enjoying the view.
We will depart in the early evening for the nearby town of Kotor where we can walk around the walls, shop around town, and have an optional group dinner.

The best way to see Montenegro is from the water! The country has some absolutely breathtaking bays and waterways which we will explore at our leisure, stopping at some Islands and nearby towns. Make sure to bring your swim suit as we will have plenty of time to jump in and swim in some coves.
In the evening we will have an optional group dinner at the hotel.

Day 7 Final Full Day in Montenegro
Free morning & kotor cable car
On our final day in Montenegro we will have a free morning for your to relax by the water, visit a nearby cafe, or head into Kotor.
We will depart in the afternoon for the Kotor Cable Car which will take us to the to of the mountains over the Bay for stunning views. You can ride a mountain coaster, hike along the hills, or grab a drink and enjoy the view.
We will end our time with a farewell dinner at a seaside restaurant with amazing views.

For those that are ending their trip in Montenegro you will take a taxi to the Kotor airport for our departure flight back home.
OPTIONAL 2 NIGHT ADD-ON
We have an amazing 2 night extension we are offering to visit the nearby country of Bosnia and Herzegovina. See the FAQ's below for some information about this optional extension.
We will depart the hotel and head to Blagaj Tekke for lunch and to visit the historic monastery built within the cliffs along a river running through the mountains. Afterward we will head to Mostar where you can begin exploring before a walking tour and dinner.

We will depart Mostar early to head to a nearby waterfall where we can hike around and also jump into the water and swim. We will spend a few hours at this natural wonder before returning to Mostar. The evening is free to spend how you want, but our host will be spending time wandering around town, stopping for a wine tasting, and enjoying different shops. We will host a final group dinner at a local restaurants.

Hi! I'm Meghan, the founder of Girls Who Love Travel, and I'm thrilled to be your host for this trip. After countless conversations with women of all backgrounds, it became clear: there's a shared desire to travel more, yet many hesitate to go solo or struggle to find someone to travel with.

How do meals work?
All activities included in the itinerary are included in the price. There will be plenty of free time on this trip, but we will have optional group activities you can join for an additional cost. You can also use your free time to explore at your leisure and we will provide recommendations for those who want to explore independently.
Will there be free time during the trip?
Yes! Most people joining this trip will be strangers. We will coordinate a meetup before the trip for all confirmed travelers to come and meet your travel host as well as other travelers. If you are looking for a shared room, we will match you up with another girl for the trip.
I don't have anyone to go with is that ok?
We price all of our trips for both single and double occupancy. We do this to make sure travelers are as comfortable as possible, but if you want to have your own room during the trip it does increase the price. If you are interested in rooming with another traveler, please express that in our pre-registration form. We will help coordinate with other girls who express interest in sharing a room. We will be staying in 3-5 star hotels during our trip. All will be centrally located and highly rated by prior guests. Hotels in Europe do tend to default to "European Twins", which means they push two twin beds next to each other. For those sharing, we will always recommend you do a little rearranging on day 1 to make sure both you and your roommate are comfortable.
What are the accomodations?
This trip is for open-minded women who are looking to explore a new destinations and make real connections with their fellow travelers. We only ask that our travelers be kind, open and respectful during our trip.
All travelers should be comfortable walking. Part of the fun of a trip to Europe is wandering down streets to shop or stop into a local cafe. We will be walking 5-10 miles most days. There are some hills on this trip so be prepared to walk up and down inclines. If you are uncomfortable walking that much, you are welcome to take taxis to meet the group at your own cost.

Meals mentioned in the itinerary are included in the price. All other meals will be at your own expense. We will have an optional group dinner each evening on the trip you can join or head out on your own. We will work to accommodate dietary restrictions as much as possible throughout our trip.
What flight should I book for this trip?
The tip will start our trip in Dubrovnik, Croatia and end in Kotor, Montengro. If you are not looking to extend your trip, we recommend booking an arrival flight that lands in Dubrovnik by 4PM to ensure you have time to get through customs and to the hotel in plenty of time for our welcome dinner. For the departure, we are around 30 minutes from the airport and we can help organize airport transportation.
Can I extend my trip?
Yes! We are offering an amazing 2 day extension to Bosnia and Herzegovina. This country is a hidden gem in the region and offers beautiful natural landscapes along with a vibrant city in Mostar. We will head to Mostar directly from our hotel (around a 3.5 hour drive), stopping along the way to take in some the sites. Once we arrive in Mostar we will have time to wander around old town before taking a walking tour that will delve into the countries past. I have been on many tours and the walking tour we will take in Mostar is one of the most moving and meaningful tours I have ever been on. We will also be visiting a nearby waterfall where we will be able to swim and take in this natural wonder. We will make sure to have enough time our final evening so everyone can walk around, shop (amazing shopping scene), and hopefully see one of the bridge jumpers in action. For this extension we will head back to Dubrovnik to take return flights back home or to your next destination!
