Plan Your Next Trip to Paris for Under $1,350

Now is the best time to plan a trip to Europe for next April. Flights and hotels are still extremely affordable.

Paris, one of the most iconic cities in Europe, is a must visit. It has history, culture, a fabulous cafe scene, and plenty to keep any traveler busy. The only issue I usually have with Paris is the expense. Not only are hotels more expensive than other European cities, so are restaurants and other activities. So the best time to visit Paris is on the shoulder season, you can save some money on flights and hotels, to allow room to spend it on meals and fun in this magical city.

Price per person based on 2 people can be as cheap as $1,350, but to splurge on a nicer hotels the cost comes in around $1,800 per person (includes roundtrip airfare, hotels, and transportation). For those on an even tighter budget, check out Hostels. I have stayed in plenty and they provide you a central place to stay at usually half the price. See below for recommendations for each budget.

Note: All pricing is accurate at date of post, but is subject to change as hotels/airlines frequently update pricing. Pricing is usually accurate for 24-72 hours, may be longer especially for hotels.

What to do in the Paris

Paris, the City of Lights, has captured hearts and imaginations for centuries. Paris, full of of art, culture, and history, offers a so many experiences that one can't capture it all in one week.

From iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre Museum to the quaint streets of Montmartre and the tastes of French cuisine, Paris weaves a tale of discovery and delight. Each day brings a new adventure - a morning in a sidewalk café, an afternoon at a museum, a sunset boat ride on the Seine, and evenings alive with artistic performances. My top recommendations for Paris are:

Flight from Chicago to Paris

There are a number of affordable flight options to Paris in April. One of the cheapest options is from April 10th - April 17th on United. The cost is under $600 per person (currently $584 for basic economy and $754 for regular economy).

Hotel Recommendations

The hotels below are my recommendation in Paris. Paris is not the most budget friendly city, but if you visit in the shoulder months of April and May, accommodations are much for affordable.

Hotel le Pavillon: Located near the iconic Louvre Museum and the bustling Palais Royal, this boutique hotel is a full of sophistication and charm. From the moment you step into its elegant foyer, adorned with classic Parisian décor, you feel like you have truly arrived in Paris. The rooms, each uniquely styled, offer a blend of modern comforts and a touch of old-world grace. To top it off the hotel is one of the best deals in the city.
Cost: From $195/night in April

Le Relais Saint Honoré: This beautiful 4-star boutique hotel is located near Tuileries Garden, the Louvre Museum and Orangerie Museum> The inside of the hotel offers beautiful rooms, which are much larger than most rooms in Paris. Le Relais Saint Honoré also has a Sauna for guests to enjoy..
Cost: $250/night in April

Rayz Eiffel: If you have room in your budget to spend a little more, I highly recommend Rayz Eiffel. The hotel is centrally located in the center of Paris and makes it easy to walk to most of the key sites including the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, and Arc de Triumph. The hotel offers modern and stylish rooms, but the best part is the rooftop which has beautiful views of the city, including the Eiffel Tower (a great place to enjoy a drink in the evening and just take in this beautiful city).
Cost: $285/night in April

Getting Around Paris

Airport Transportation

You can easily get from Charles de Gaulle Airport to Paris by taking an RER B train. RER run every 10 minutes between the airport and the city center and stop at the main stations in Paris, including Paris Gare du Nord. They take approximately 30 minutes. The cost is $13 per person each way ($26 round trip). For those that don’t want to take the train, taking a taxi costs around $70-90 each way depending on where you are staying.

Getting Around Paris

Half of the fun of a trip to Paris is wandering down the streets and discovering street artists, small shops, quant cafes and just enjoying the sounds of the city. For most of your trip to Paris, you will be walking. I generally budget in a few tax rides to help with any late nights out or return back to the hotel after a long day.

Total Cost of Transportation: $100 assumes train from airport and leaves room for a few taxis
